Shameless self-promotion: Lawrence Journal-World wins three EPpY Awards

My paper, the Lawrence Journal-World was awarded three EPpYs for online excellence. The awards, given out by Editor & Publisher, recognize the best media-affiliated sites. The full list of winners is here.

The Journal-World won for:

  • WellCommons.com: Best Community Service on a Media-Affiliated Website with under 250,000 unique monthly visitors. WellCommons.com, which is edited by reporter Karrey Britt, covers health issues in northeast Kansas.
  • Journal-World photographers Kevin Anderson, Richard Gwin and Nick Krug and photo chief Mike Yoder: Best News Video with 250,000 to 1 million unique monthly visitors. Krug also won Best Sports Video with 250,000 to 1 million unique monthly visitors for a time lapse of a Kansas Relays shot put competition in downtown Lawrence.
  • KUsports.com was one of three finalists for Best Sports Website with 250,000 to 1 million unique monthly visitors. The award went to the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star.

Congratulations to my colleagues for their well-deserved honors.
