The Associated Press Sports Editors recognized two Kansas City-area newspapers for their online sports coverage in its annual Web contest.
The Lawrence Journal-World was in the top 10 for sites with fewer than 500,000 unique monthly visits. Other winners included the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, the Decatur Herald & Review and Northwest Herald, both in Illinois.
The Star was given an honorable mention in the Over 2 Million category. Winners included the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times. Other honorable mentions were given to papers including the Los Angeles Times, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Newsday.
The Star’s Steve Rosen was a judge in the under 500,000 category.
