The Star’s Kansas football and basketball beat writer J. Brady McCollough is heading east, taking a gig at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He announced the move on Twitter today; he’ll be a sports enterprise writer in a state that has seen its fair share of deep sports reporting lately.
He wrote on Twitter and in a farewell column that he has mixed emotions about leaving “one of the best beat jobs in sports journalism.”
I am leaving The Star and Kansas City not because I couldn’t be happy here forever but because I’m only 29 and ready for a new challenge. I’m going to write sports features and enterprise stories for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which will introduce me to an entire new landscape.
