M. Olaf Frandsen announced his resignation as publisher of the Monitor, which serves the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, to take the helm as editor and publisher of the Salina Journal. He also served as regional vice president for California-based Freedom Communications. Tom Bell announced he was stepping down from his post at the Journal in January.
The Monitor wrote:
Frandsen, 56, will become editor and publisher of the Salina Journal, a family-owned newspaper in central Kansas that is located close to family in the Kansas City metro area. Frandsen, who began work at The Monitor in November 2002, said he thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Rio Grande Valley, calling it an “extraordinary place to live” that reinforced the importance of family in his life.
