Press Club gears up for Heart of America Awards Banquet

The Kansas City Press Club will play host to the area’s best journalists Saturday, June 9, at the annual Heart of America Awards banquet. It’ll be held once again in the Muehelbach Lobby in the Downtown Marriott in KCMO.

Larry Hatteberg, the accomplished and legendary Wichita anchorman, will be the keynote speaker.

His “Hatteberg’s People” series has capitalized on Hatteberg’s ability to communicate visually and let his subjects tell their stories.

Hatteberg is a native Kansan.  He grew up in Winfield.  He has worked at KAKE-TV in Wichita since 1963,    in nearly every position in the newsroom. He currently co-anchors the 5:00 p.m. newscast.

Hatteberg has won hundreds of awards and has inspired thousands of other journalists with his work and through his teaching at the National Press Photographers’ annual News Video Workshop.

Hatteberg will help honor others’ work as the Press Club hands out plaques and certificates in the 25th Heart of America Awards.

A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6:30.  The cost is $40 per person.  You may make a reservation by sending the reservation form to Linda Chesney Kaut, Kansas City Press Club, 729 Van Mar Drive, Olathe, Kansas 66061.
