Press Club to host free FOI training session Monday

The Kansas City Press Club, Johnson County Community College and the Society of Professional Journalists are hosting a free freedom of information training seminar Monday evening at JCCC. The event lasts from 7-9 p.m., and will be at  the Regnier Center Capital Federal Auditorium.

Leading the seminar is Dr. Joey Senat, a professor of journalism from Oklahoma State University. Senat writes a blog about FOI issues for FOI Oklahoma Inc.

SPJ’s Access Across America II project is providing a  two-hour  session on accessing public records June 18. . Topics include ideas for  record-based stories, effective requests, and how to use tactical strategies to overcome denials and exorbitant copy  fees.
