KC-based Newport Television has sold its 22 stations for about $1 billion, the Star reports. Three companies purchased the stations, based around the country, including two in Wichita, KSAS and KMTW.
Nexstar Broadcasting purchased 12 stations; Sinclair Broadcast Group bought six, and Cox Media Group bought four. Sinclair purchased KSAS, the Wichita Fox affiliate; KMTW was part of the sale, according to the Wichita Business Journal.
The Star also notes Newport is continuing to try and sell its five remaining stations in Bakersfield, Calif., Fresno, Calif., Rochester, N.Y., Albany, N.Y. and in Eugene, Ore.
