The Daily Caller, the conservative website run by Tucker Carlson, is promoting its weekly gun giveaway on stories related to today’s mass shooting in Colorado.
Poynter’s MediaWire blog pointed this out. Jim Romenesko reported that the Denver Post had a similar issue, but took the ad down. Revolving ad spots on websites often communicate with text on a web page, so that a story about, say KU basketball has a topical ad next to it. This, obviously, can lead to some terrible ad placements.
