The Star reports that negotiations between KCTV’s parent company, Meredith Broadcasting, and Time Warner are not going well, and the cable provider might boot the CBS affiliate, much as it did KMBC last week. The current deal expires Wednesday.
“Please know that we have tried hard to reach an agreement with Time Warner Cable,” read a statement posted Friday afternoon on the KCTV website. “If Time Warner Cable removes our signal you will miss CBS programs like the Kansas City Chiefs and other NFL games, CSI Miami, The Mentalist, Two and A Half Men, Big Bang Theory and 60 Minutes.”
Time Warner counters that it is Meredith that is “threatening to black out its programming for Time Warner cable customers beginning July 25 unless we agree to pay a price increase of over 200 percent for programming that they deliver for free over the air and via the Internet.”
