Remember when former KU football coach Turner Gill banned his players from tweeting? Yeah, those days are long gone.
Today Gill’s replacement, Charlie Weis, tweeted a stream of frustration towards the University Daily Kansan, which featured a front page of a cowering Jayhawk mounted on top of a goal post, as a burly Willy the Wildcat stood below. The headline read “Road Kill Ahead.”
Weis and the Jayhawks, 1-4, take on undefeated #7 Kansas State Saturday.
“Team slammed by our own school newspaper. Amazing! No problem with opponents paper or local media. You deserve what you get! But, not home!” he wrote. “I personally could care less. You are what are. On the other hand, if I don’t support the players good or bad, who will??”
Weis also indicted on Twitter earlier this week that Missouri is in KU’s rearview window, saying, “Teaching players the history of KU vs K-State. More time was spent on Missouri in the past. Time to focus on our instate rival. They do!”
