Editor & Publisher like the Lawrence Journal-World. In November, the industry magazine awarded three presitgious EPpY awards to the paper, including for best daily newspaper website (for fewer than 1 million visitors). And today it named the LJWorld one of the top 10 newspapers that do it right, an annual feature.
E&P cited the paper’s daily deals program and charitable Lawrence GiveBack program.
“Our objective is to reach audiences and advertisers through every channel, medium, and device they want us on,” said vice president of content Mark Potts. “We don’t talk about just being digital-first; we want to be audience-first.”
Specifically, the audience-first strategy means not ignoring print, and the Journal-World has recently launched a new print Sunday arts section, plus new health and business pages. Further plans to augment the print edition include sections aimed at shopping and nightlife.
The Journal-World is in good company. Other papers named in the feature include the Dallas Morning News, the Denver Post and the Orange County Register.
