|Join us for an evening of discussion on what role Social Media should play in journalists’ jobs.
Evolving technology today puts news at our fingertips. Emergencies unfold on television as the media is there reporting from a tragedy or a school lockdown. Coverage unfolds on Facebook and Twitter as people post what is happening in emergency situations.
As journalists, how much should we use social media to report what is happening? The Plaza explosion is a current example of how reports were going out over people’s twitter and Facebook. As journalists do we use social media for research or do we report what people have posted as facts in our coverage?
