KCTV editor retires after 39 years

When KCTV editor Charlene Pryor started at the station nearly 40 years ago, she was told women didn’t belong in the newsroom.

Now, on the eve of her retirement, almost half of the station’s staffers are women.

She won an Emmy for a story on an AIDS quilt, and said the biggest story she worked on was covering the Hyatt skywalk collapse.Image

She said she looks forward to painting horses. And maybe other hobbies?

“Somebody said, ‘what are you going to do when you retire?’ and I said, ‘I’ll guess I’ll do what I want to do when I want to do it.’ The possibilities are endless,” Pryor said.
