Justin Kraemer, the KSN anchor who was fired after encouraging his co-anchors to join him in getting “the fuck outta here” following a broadcast, has lost out on another gig, the Wichita Eagle reports.
Kramer had one foot out the door when he uttered the fatal f-bomb, and was evidently in the final stages of negotiations with KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs.
But now KOAA has backed away from the deal, Kraemer told the Eagle:
“The conversation was very clinical and professional, and they informed me that this got a lot more attention than anyone could have possibly imagined when everything got started,” Kraemer said. “They’re in a difficult situation because they don’t want to get national or global publicity just for making a reporter hire.”
Kraemer called the week difficult, and doesn’t know what he’ll do now.
“The only thing that’s gotten me through it is the anonymous love I’ve gotten from a lot of people,” he said.
Earlier, viewers of the NBC affiliate cried foul at his firing, at least according to the station’s Facebook page
. Dozens of people have written to voice their support of Kreamer, and none appear to support the station’s decision to sack him.
“A simple apology from Mr. Kramer [sic] would have sufficed,” write David Bonfiglio. “No need to sack the man because a sound technician was late throwing switch.”
Rich Parkhurst wrote, “Don’t agree at all concerning the decision to fire Justin Kraemer. In the big picture, firing someone just before Christmas is much worse than what the man did to get fired. What he did was an unintentional mistake, what you did was a well thought out blunder.”
“I am appalled that you fired a good newsman for making a mistake,” said Liesl Diesel.
