Murder charges filed against man accused of killing KCTV reporter’s mother

Prosecutors have filed first-degree murder charges against the man they say killed the mother of KCTV reporter Sandra Olivas, who was fatally struck by a car.

Christopher Bradley Stewart, 28, of Kansas City, Kan., is accused of hitting the vehicle driven by Graciela Olivas, 62, Thursday as he fled from police. He was ordered held on $1 million bond.

“Chela will be remembered for her bright smile and big red kisses. She was a hard worker, devoted mother and proud grandmother. She opened her home and heart to all who needed help and never turned away friends or family in need,” read Graciela Olivas’ obituary.
“If I had it my way I would be burying my son and not apologizing for my son’s part in Ms. Olivas’ death,” Jackie Wakefield, Stewart’s mother, told FOX4.

Sanda Olivas has been with KCTV since 2000.
